A love letter to my families.
…for the families who have found me as their therapy provider during this ongoing uncertain time.
Dear fabulous families,
This is a love letter for you.
I hope this message finds you in a moment of ease: feeling safe, nourished and loved.
These are some things on my mind:
I see you, and you are brave and curious.
Your willingness to show up, open up, and share what is real for you is what makes this work possible.
You trust me with your wonderful children.
Your young people are showing up.
They are meeting with me individually in the comfort and safety of their bedroom through Telehealth.
They are using stuffed animals and handmade characters to act out their feelings.
[or]
Your young people are in the office with me, using the flashlight to create shadow puppets that eat other shadow puppets (gaining mastery over the unknown shadow puppets through their storylines).
[or]
Sometimes, we are all meeting together [you, me and your young people].
We share stories. We play “what’s up?” We make art together.
You show strength to let go of your agenda, and let your child be the narrator of their experience in our time together.
It is truly a privilege to collaborate with you in this transformative process with you and your young ones. I do not take it for granted.
Thank you for partnering with me and being an active participant in what it means to support and understand your child.
